Team led by Deputy Secretary Long Xinmin visits HOSC
February 12th, 2005, A team led by Deputy Secretary Long Xinmin visited the HOSC and expressed their appreciation to the staff of the Center. The team included Chen Qigang, Deputy Secretary General of Beijing, Song Guilun, Vice Minister of Beijing’s Communication Department, Zhang Jianming, Deputy Secretary of Beijing Education; Zhang Huiguang, Director of Beijing’s Democracy Office; He Jiazhen, Director of BOCOG’s Information Center.
Deputy Secretary Long and Ji Baocheng, President of RUC, joined Huiling Feng, Vice President of RUC, in celebrating the establishment of the Olympic Library & Information Center (OLIC) at RUC.
During the celebration, He Jiazhen donated two valuable books as the first donation to the OLIC: Reference Compiling of IOC and Athens Aspiration. Prof. Jin Yuanpu then expressed gratitude to the IOC and the BOCOG for their support and belief that the OLIC would facilitate research about the Olympics and be a heritage to the Olympic community.
After the ceremony, Feng Huiling reported on the recent research results to the group, which results include international communications, published papers, various conferences, and decision consulting. She also reported on the upcoming projects of the Center. Feng expressed her wish to see the HOSC involved more heavily in the preparation of Beijing Olympic and receive more support from the Beijing community.
Deputy Secretary Long showed his deep appreciation for the efforts and accomplishments of the HOSC. More information, personnel, and financial support will be provided to the HOSC in the near future for the spread of the Olympic spirit.
