(BEIJING, Dec. 5, 2005) - Distinct from goods providers for the
Beijing 2008 Olympiad, the Beijing Olympic suppliers is part of Beijing
2008 Olympic Games Sponsorship Program, thus enjoying different rights and interests from the others, a
BOCOG official commented.
With the launch of Beijing 2008 Olympic Supplier's scheme still seven days to go on Dec. 12, Li Zhiquan, of BOCOG marketing department, said the tier is the third part of Beijing 2008 Olympic Sponsorship Program, which also contains Beijing 2008 Sponsorship and Partnership Tiers.
"Suppliers" are defined as those who sponsor the Beijing Olympic Games by providing products or services and show the public that the products or services provided by them are used for the staging of the Games.
As sponsors, the Olympic suppliers enjoy the right to the use of Olympic intellectual property rights (IPR) for marketing purpose. Goods providers (or contracted suppliers) for the 2008 Games, on the other hand, are chosen through public bid or other procurement process, and are not included in the scope of the Beijing Olympic Marketing Plan. These providers receive payment equivalent to the value of products or service they offer to the Games, and are not entitled to the right of using Olympic IPR for marketing.
